COURSE OBJECTIVES:
This course will introduce students to the fundamentals of programming
by learning the theory and doing projects with several programming
languages. It will provide students whose career objectives are
to start in the computer programmer field with the following:
• Get familiar and comfortable with the programming process
by learning to program characters and objects in a virtual world
using the programming environment Alice.
• Learn the fundamentals of the Microsoft Visual Basic programming
language: building an application; working with variables, constants,
data types, and expressions; decision making; repletion and multiple
forms, using menus, common dialogs, procedures, functions, and
arrays.
• Fundamentals of Java programming: creating a Java application
and Applet; manipulating data using methods; decision making and
repetitions with reusable objects; arrays, loops, and layout managers
using external classes; creating menus and button arrays using
the Abstract Windows Toolkit.
• Comprehension of object-oriented concepts as they apply
to programming, and the faculty to use these concepts to produce
C++ programs.
• Learn how to create a database, create tables, query and
modify data using SQL.
• Learn about the operating system Linux
• How to research for the desired job and perform a winning
job interview.
